Dunedin, New Zealand—19th March, 2017—Chiasma today announced the 2nd annual launch event for Chiasma Dunedin at the Centre for Innovation Seminar Room, University of Otago, at 5pm, on the 24th of March, 2017. The event will consist of, an introduction to this year's team, the 2017 events overview, talks from guest speakers, and networking over drinks and nibbles.
"I think Launch is about showcasing what Chiasma is," said Joshua Harris, Chiasma Dunedin's CEO. "Which is giving students the skills, knowledge and connections to succeed. We are also about producing students that understand the importance of commercialisation. So when someone asks what can be done with science as a career, they know what opportunities are available to them. These opportunities span R&D to Business, from the fundamental science, to the end products that are available on the market."
This years launch will give industry members the chance to see what Chiasma has in store for the year, and gives students access to people in the fields they may want to pursue a career in.
Chiasma is New Zealand's premiere student-led organisation that fosters connections between science and business, connecting university students to high-tech industries. Started in 2004 by three PhD students at the University of Auckland to contribute to the growth of a knowledge-based economy, Chiasma now has over 3500 student and industry members, and spans three centres in Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin.
